After leaving the Navy, I expected the transition home to be challengingbut I didnt expect housing to be my biggest barrier. Between damaged credit and having two large dogs, I was denied rental after rental. Despite working and trying to rebuild, I had nowhere to go. I was incredibly lucky to have a friend who let me stay in their basement for six months while I got back on my feet. That support changed everything. This experience opened my eyes to how quickly housing insecurity can happen and why organizations like Home Sweet Home Ministries matter so deeply.
